Mental Filmness will definitely host a virtual festival using the platform we did last year, Eventive: Mental Filmness | Mental Filmness ( We had a good turnout for Eventive last year, with viewers all across the globe. We are hoping to host a small gathering in Chicago in October, pending surrounding circumstances – keep an eye on this page for updates. For both events we will plan the opening night for October 8th, 2022, the Saturday evening before World Mental Health Day on October 10th. The virtual festival is planned to run until November 6th, 2022.

By participating in Mental Filmness, you will become an exciting part of the community surrounding Chicago’s first film festival based around mental health.

Our festival will continue to give out awards based on some of our objectives. There will be a Stigma Breaker award for the film we feel most effectively battles the stigma of mental illness. There will be a Realism Award for the film we feel most realistically depicts its condition. There will be an Empathy Award for the film that we feel best promotes empathy for mental illness. There will be no cash value for these awards.
